FAITH
Faith: Reaching for the Handle
We talk a lot about having faith. Trusting God, a Higher Power, Creative Intelligence, the Spirit of the Universe … whatever language works for us.
But faith alone doesn’t open doors.
We can believe with everything we have that something is waiting for us on the other side, but eventually we have to reach for the handle.
We have to participate.
Study. Show up. Make the call. Take the test. Say yes. Say no. Take the risk. Open the damn door. And maybe that’s when faith becomes something more than belief.
We come to the edge of everything we know without any guarantee about what comes next, and we step forward anyway.
Maybe there’s something solid there to stand on.
Maybe we are taught how to fly.
And once the door opens, we don’t necessarily have to charge through it. Maybe the next step is stillness. Stand there. Breathe. Pay attention.
What’s here?
Where am I being led?
Perhaps that’s the rhythm of a meaningful life:
Faith
Action
Stillness
Discernment
Trust something larger than yourself. Do the work that’s yours to do. Become still enough to listen and trust the unfolding.
Because faith isn’t knowing what’s on the other side of the door.
Faith is having the courage to turn the handle.
